LOLA’s Olympic Staff Medallists 2012!

Lola_medallist_podium
A big round of applause goes to Dixon Castro (GOLD), Deimante Luksyte (SILVER) and Chiemele Akoma (BRONZE) who were chosen the top performers of London’s 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Event Staffing Season!
Dixon Castro – GOLD medallist of London 2012 in ‘LOLA’s Best Event Staff Member’

Dixon has received an impressive number of positive feedbacks from clients and LOLA senior team during the Olympics and Paralympics. Dixon worked on a bar at 2 of the busiest venues of the Summer 2012: the House of Nations – Tower of London and at H. Forman & Son’s Restaurant. Dixon adapted really quickly to the vibrant atmosphere of both venues being one of the most pro-active and hard-working staff members there. Other members of LOLA’s catering staff team describe Dixon as a ‘great team player’ and our supervisors say he ‘gets on with any task you throw at him’. Dixon is a very good barman and the clients are always impressed by his diligent work.
Well done Dixon! We’re happy to offer you a pay increase. Also a little something will be coming your way.

Deimante Luksyte – SILVER medallist of London 2012 in ‘LOLA’s Best Event Staff Member’

Deimante was one of the top performers at the VIP Olympic Hospitality Centre in the Olympic Stadium for SMART Hospitality. On the busiest days at the venue, Deimante was invaluable in helping to make the service run smoothly. She was always eager and proactive. The clients have also described Deimante as a very intelligent worker ‘working ahead of things that needed to be done’. Deimante is not only an excellent catering staff member but also a good friend to all of her colleagues. No matter how hard the shift is, everyone loves being around always smiley Deimante.
Well done Deimante! We’re very happy to offer you a pay increase.

Chiemele Akoma – BRONZE medallist of London 2012 in ‘LOLA’s Best Event Staff Member’

Chiemele was an absolute star during the Olympics mainly working at the Africa House and for Sodexo Prestige at the Olympic Park. Chiemele made himself irreplaceable very quickly with event managers often asking him to stay to the very end of the event. He is very hard-working and always willing to offer a hand. Chemiele is an outstanding member of our bar staff and waiting staff teams. His friends from our catering staff team say he’s a ‘real joy to work with’.

LOLA catering staff at The Royal Hospital Chelsea

Catering_staff_lola_royal_hospital_chelsea_5

Last Thursday the catering staff from LOLA worked at a fantastic costumed event for Mustard Catering at The Royal Hospital Chelsea. Our waiting staff were serving over 200 guests during the splendid fundraising dinner for Sir John Soane’s Museum. The venue looked outstanding and so did our staff. Waiters and waitresses from LOLA wore the outfits especially designed for them by the London School of Design. Everyone seemed to enjoy the special atmosphere of the evening and our staff received lots of praise. A special mention goes to Belle Taylor whose service was particularly impressive for the guests and for the client. Well done Belle!

Promotional Staff from LOLA at the ITV Game Show - 'My Man Can'

promotional staff with mark wright LOLA ITV My Man Can

Our promotional staff have recently worked on the new ITV Game Show with Mark Wright and Melanie Sykes! The exciting brand new show is called ‘My Man Can’ and is due to be aired in 2013.

‘My Man Can’ is an exciting project where girls send their boyfriends onto the show to compete in various challenges. Promotional staff from LOLA were involved in those challenges competing with the contestants.

LOLA promo girls did an amazing job taking part in the Culinary Challenge. International foods were brought in by our promotional girls representing countries from around the world including China, Britain, Germany, France, India and Morocco. Each of our promo girls looked stunning wearing a traditional dress of the country they represented. Take a look at the pictures!

Promotional guys from LOLA did a great job too taking part in the Arm Wrestling Challenge (!) Boyfriends (the contestants) had to compete against our promo guys - all varying sizes. Apparently it was lots of fun – we can’t wait to see it on TV!

Our promotional staff had a great time and the ITV guys were a pleasure to work with. Not to mention that Mark Wright was very popular with the boys and girls.

We bet ‘My Man Can’ will become your favourite show as soon as it’s aired on ITV! LOLA Team most certainly won’t miss one episode!

LOLA Come Dine With Me 2012

IT’S ALL OVER!

Last night, after more than six months of intense competition we finally concluded ‘LOLA – Come Dine With Me 2012.’

Never before has a workplace competition seen such ferocity from the combatants and never again will we see such a closely fought tussle. Adding to the drama throughout were lost receipts, over-spends, accusations of foul play, low and high balling, lost scores and re-scores and a litany of twists and turns.

In the end only 1.22 points separated first and last place, and only 0.13 points separated our gold and silver medallists. Such tiny margins illustrated the very high level of cooking, hosting and fun-making that each of our competitors from all around the globe brought to the table.

I will take away memories of real Polish vodka, torturous gardens, Beyonce, Arabian nights and many more inventive and exciting concepts that I never thought possible in a small, bland boardroom. But my favourite lasting memory must surely be John-Michael in Eve’s leopard print onesie! Spectacular!

Everyone was a winner, but more accurately, only one person was a winner and all the rest were the losers. So here are our top 3 – congratulations to:

1st Place GOLD – Diana Sanni and her glittering, glamorous LOLA Awards Dinner

2nd Place SILVER – Madre Visser bringing us back to our earthy roots with her English Pub theme

3rd Place BRONZE – John-Michael Robinson who whisked us off on an Arabian adventure

Special mention must also go to Paula who had the unenviable task of going first and subsequently was lumped with this year’s Booby Prize. Well done Paula!

Thank you to all the team for the wonderful effort you made in what I suspect was both our inaugural and only LOLA Come Dine With Me. Now the question remains – what next….?

Duncan

LOLA promotional staff for vInspired 'Do Something' campaign

August 2012 marks the year anniversary of the riots the public saw spread throughout the streets of London. Since then vInspired (‘an independent charity dedicated to helping young people volunteer in ways that matter to them’) has developed the ‘Do Something’ campaign which is aiming to reverse the negative perceptions of young people in the UK after the London Riots last year.
LOLA, once again, was right in on the action working alongside vInspired to promote the ‘Do Something’ campaign. LOLA’s beautiful promotional staff worked throughout central London getting the youth of today involved by capturing images of girls and guys holding up messages of their positive contributions they have made to society.
This campaign has had amazing involvement from youths of London and Celebs alike leading to the unveiling of the House of Reeves in Croydon which had every square inch covered in the pictures which LOLA’s promo staff helped collect in the months prior to the unveiling of the House of Reeves.
LOLA is very proud to have taken part in such a worthwhile cause. Our promo girls and guys have loved every moment of it.
If you want to know more about vInspired and their ‘Do Something’ campaign have a look at their website: http://vinspired.com/dosomething

LOLA Promotional Staff at World Pride 2012

Worldpride7

Here are our fun promotional staff team working at the event for Hilton Hotels & Resorts in association with World Pride 2012. Promo girls and guys from LOLA were using iPads to collect people’s e-mail addresses in order to register them for the Hilton Newsletter. The client was looking for promotional staff who were comfortable approaching, interacting and talking with the audience at the LGTB event. LOLA provided them with 17 of our most outgoing, approachable, fun, flirty, attractive and physically good looking promotional staff to work at this event. Result? 100% client satisfaction :) check out their comments below:

‘Just wanted to say what a great bunch of people you sent us on Saturday...very impressive - most of them were really up for it and were pretty much willing to do anything - including wearing very short, very tight, very sparkly shorts!
We are currently waiting for the figures to come in to tell us how many people they managed to get signed up and who managed to collate the most - there will be a prize for the winner - a $300 voucher which can be used at any Hilton hotel across the globe.
Thanks again for all your organisation and we look forward to working with you again in the future - we will certainly recommend you.’

LOLA Waiting Staff at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show!

The waiting staff from LOLA had the pleasure to work at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show this May, and got a chance to see some amazing, modern, inventive gardens, new plants and ingenious products.
The Chelsea Flower Show has been held in the grounds of the Chelsea Hospital every year since 1913. It is Britain’s most prestigious flower show and most associated with the royal family, who attend the opening day every year. And guess what! Some of our lucky wait staff members were thrilled to see the Queen at the opening day this year!
Img_2308We received some FANTASTIC feedback from the client about our precious waiters and waitresses! Check out for yourself! <blush>
‘Can I just say a big thank you to you and your staff for last week. I work at various venues throughout the UK and abroad. On most occasions the quality of Staff are fair to good, some need a bit of on the job training and some outshine others. On this occasion I can honestly say for the 1st time ever all of my staff were shining like stars. It was my pleasure and privilege to work with your staff, they are a credit to your Agency and themselves. I made a joke about being sick and tired of the amount of customers telling me how good they were, of the 4000+ people that came through the restaurant only one complained about the service level That to me was amazing, I talked to about 75% of the customers and those that I missed my other Managers captured. Considering that they were in at 6.00am through to 5pm, they were still smiling at the end of the day, and next morning when they came back, and it showed with the feedback from the customers. Everything we asked of them they did and more as well. I am pleased to say that we exceeded all expectations. I know I will be working with your staff again in the near future, and I am looking forward to it immensely. I did thank everyone, but can you pass on my thanks again.’
